Program Overview

A Standardised, Scalable BESS Platform

The AVOLTA BESS program represents ARCH's commitment to building a replicable, standardised battery storage platform across regional NSW. Each of the 10 sites follows an identical design — approximately 4.5–4.9MW / 15MWh per site — enabling streamlined engineering, bulk procurement, and consistent quality assurance.

ARCH develops, builds, operates, and maintains BESS projects across the full project lifecycle — from initial investment, site acquisition, grid connection agreements, EPC delivery, and commissioning through to long-term operations and maintenance.
With integrated capability under one roof, ARCH provides clear accountability and efficient project delivery. We welcome collaboration with companies that share the same commitment to developing renewable energy projects and expanding opportunities in the Australian market.

The program leverages WELTRUS 5MWh DC ESS technology as its core energy storage platform — a proven, utility-grade solution that has been deployed across hundreds of projects worldwide. By standardising on a single DC equipment brand, ARCH achieves economies of scale in procurement, simplifies spare-parts logistics, and ensures uniform performance monitoring across all sites.

The flagship site at Gulargambone (64 Box Ridge Road) has already secured grid connection with Essential Energy's 66/22kV substation, with a Connection Service Agreement signed in September 2025 and the Connection Information Report received in February 2026. DNSP confirmation of up to 4.3MW connection on existing feeder provides firm capacity for full-scale deployment.

Invest

ARCH provides full capital investment across all 10 sites — total program CAPEX of $63.97M AUD, structured in phased payments aligned with project milestones.

Develop

Site identification, land lease negotiation, council approvals, and DNSP grid connection agreements — all managed in-house by the ARCH development team.

Build

EPC delivery through the ARCH–WELTRUS landmark agreement. Standardised design enables parallel construction across multiple sites with consistent quality.

Operate

Long-term asset operation and performance optimisation — revenue generation through energy arbitrage, frequency control ancillary services (FCAS), and grid support.

Maintain

Dedicated O&M program with 24-hour response guarantee. Joint venture between WELTRUS and ARCH ensures technical expertise and local support capability.

Upgrade Path: Self-Cycle & EV Charging

The AVOLTA BESS program is designed with a clear future upgrade path. Once operational, each site can be retrofitted with:

  • Self-cycle DC charging capability — enabling the BESS to charge directly from solar PV without grid dependency, improving revenue stacking and energy independence.
  • Heavy-duty EV trailer charging infrastructure — positioning each site as a multi-purpose clean energy hub serving both grid services and transport electrification.
